(Bilbao, 4 November 2020). Two research projects on Covid-19 conducted by CIC bioGUNE - a member of the Basque Research & Technology Alliance BRTA - have been adjudged by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to be priority activities for patronage. The projects selected as priority are focused on the development and validation of scalable serological tests for identifying seropositive Covid-19 patients, and the development of analytical tools and metabolomics for serological SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis in the general public.

This decision provides organisations and individuals with the opportunity to obtain tax deductions if they are interested in contributing to the funding of the above-mentioned projects. The form this collaboration may take and the publicity to be given to the involvement of the funder in these projects is flexible.

In accordance with local government regulation, funding organisations or individuals will be eligible to deduct up to 45% of their income tax or corporate tax for the amounts allocated to the projects. Both taxpayers subject to Bizkaia tax regulations and non-resident taxpayers operating with a permanent establishment and subject to Bizkaia tax regulations are eligible.
