Postdoctoral Researcher at the Synthetic Biology laboratory
2026/01/12
CIC bioGUNE is looking for highly-motivated postdoctoral researcher to work in the ERC Synergy project RGNcestry: Tracing and harnessing the ancestry of RNA-guided nucleases, funded by the European Commission.
We are seeking candidates to fill a postdoctoral position in experimental biochemistry and molecular biotechnology, with a focus on the characterization of ancestral RNA-guided nucleases (RGNs) reconstructed through ancestral sequence reconstruction. The successful candidate will investigate enzymatic properties, PAM flexibility, substrate promiscuity, and collateral cleavage activity, contributing to the development of next-generation genome editing and diagnostic tools.
The candidates will be part of a consortium including Botnar Institute for Immune Engineering (Switzerland), Columbia University (USA), Biofisika Institute (Spain), and CIC bioGUNE (Spain). Active participation in consortium activities (research, meetings, dissemination, student guidance) is expected.
