The GLYCO-N training network aims at training Doctoral Candidates (DCs) to acquire the skills to develop different innovative strategies to 1) understand the diversity and structural complexity of archaeal, microalgal and viral N-glycosylation and 2) harness this knowledge for new solutions in biomedicine and biotechnology. The GLYCO-N network brings together a diverse group of glycobiology researchers with world-leading expertise in carbohydrate chemistry, microbiology, (bio)organic chemistry, computational and structural (glyco-)biology, bioinformatics and chemical biology. The GLYCO-N DCs will have their own individual project with one GLYCO-N expert and will, through research internships, be exposed to complementary Glycoscience. The selected PhD candidates will experience an international and interdisciplinary training and participate in a series of scientific, technical and complementary skills training events, and secondments to other participating institutions. The position will allow the students to participate in an exciting multidisciplinary research and training programme, enhancing their career perspectives. Skills/Qualifications Applicants must have good knowledge and interest in Carbohydrate chemistry, microbiology, (bio)organic chemistry, computational and structural biology, bioinformatics and chemical biology. Research experience on these topics is considered an advantage but not mandatory. Applicants must speak and write fluently in English. Cancer Cell Signaling and Metabolism Lab Postdoctoral Researcher

We are seeking one highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on an exciting project related to the Von Hipple-Lindau Syndrome (VHL), a hereditary condition associated with tumors arising in multiple organs. The successful candidate will work on the molecular understanding and the design of new therapies for this syndrome. The research in the Cancer Cell Signaling and Metabolism lab is aimed at defining the genuine features (signaling and metabolic alterations) of cancer cells and their environment with special emphasis on the translation of the acquired knowledge from bench to bedside. The Chemical Glycobiology Lab is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in GLYCO13CELL, a project funded by the European Research Council (ERC Starting Grant to Dr. Luca Unione). GLYCO13CELL aims to describe, at atomic resolution and with chemical precision, the key molecular interactions between viruses and our cells that are mediated by cell surface glycans. The candidate must have a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related fields, ideally with a background in glycobiology. Computational biologist with interest in cancer biology and translational cancer research

The Cancer Therapy Resistance Lab at CIC bioGUNE (Bilbao-Spain), led by Dr. Ana Ruiz-Saenz, strive to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance to targeting therapies, with an especial focus on the role of tumor-associated aberrant glycosylation in breast cancer. Current and future projects are exploring new aspects of resistance to HER2-targeting therapies (antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates) integrating clinical data, 3D cancer cell models, high-throughput approaches, CRISPR-Cas9 technology and co-culture systems. The successful candidate will be in charge of project(s) involving analysis of newly generated data (NGS, transcriptomics) and publicly available clinical datasets (TCGA, Metabric…). The candidate should know how to evaluate and interpret research results independently; prepare them for submission to scientific journals and international meetings and write scientific abstracts and manuscripts. Specific projects will be discussed based on the candidate interest, competence, and projected scientific trajectory, with the possibility of participating in a project in collaboration with AstraZeneca.
