S-adenosylmethionine in Liver Health, Injury, and Cancer
In this article, published in Physiological Reviews, Shelly Lu, from the Keck School of Medicine at the USC in Los Angeles and José Mato, from bioGUNE, review the work they have carried out in collaboration during the last 15 years on S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) and its role in liver health, injury, and cancer. Their research has unquestionably shown that normal AdoMet level is necessary to maintain liver health and prevent liver injury and HCC. Evidence for AdoMet's treatment efficacy in human liver disease is also reviewed.
