Professor Liang Tong gives a talk on the metabolism of fatty acids during the second Structural Biology Workshop

As part of the second Workshop organised by the Structural Biology Unit at CIC bioGUNE, on 29 May, Professor Liang

Tong gave a talk entitled: 'Structural studies of fatty acid metabolism and relevance to the obesity epidemic'.

Liang Tong is Professor and Co-Director of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Biology at the University of

Columbia, in New York. One of the key issues on which his current research focuses is the study of the enzymes

involved in the metabolism and biosynthesis of fatty acids. These enzymes are vital targets for the development of

anti-obesity drugs, diabetes treatments and medicines for other human diseases.
The talk, which was given on Thursday 29 May at 15.00 hours, was organised as part of CIC bioGUNE's second Workshop

on Structural Biology, held on 29 and 30 May in the centre's own facilities.
