Dr. María dM Vivanco, a CIC bioGUNE researcher, has been awarded a research bursary by the Spanish Foundation for Senology and Mammary Pathology

Dr. María dM Vivanco, Group Leader of the Molecular Biology and Stem Cell Unit at CIC bioGUNE, has obtained a research bursary awarded by the Spanish Foundation for Senology and Mammary Pathology in recognition of her work "Stem cells and resistance to therapy in breast cancer".

The award was presented by Dr. Carlos Vázquez, chairman of the Foundation, during the closing ceremony of the 27th Congress of the Spanish Society for Senology and Mammary Pathology, held from 15 to 17 October in Gijón.

2008 is the first year in which the Spanish Foundation for Senology and Mammary Pathology has launched the initiative of awarding two research bursaries for research carried out at national level, one of which went to María dM Vivanco.
