Genetics of complex disease: reflections on a billion-dollar decade
Urko M. Marigorta, PhD
After the strong investments of the last decades, the pace of discovery in the last years of human genetics for complex disease has been astonishing. Now that we do know about thousands of genetic risk variants involved in disease etiology, was it worth it? What should we do know? In the seminar I will reflect on the implications about the architecture of disease, the prospects for individualized management of health and the main challenges that at present hinder progress towards precision medicine-based solutions.
