The molecular architecture of ionotropic glutamate receptors

Seminar

The molecular architecture of ionotropic glutamate receptors

Radu Aricescu, PhD

The molecular architecture of ionotropic glutamate receptors L-Glutamate is the major mediator of excitatory synaptic transmission the vertebrate central nervous system. Its receptors are either ligand-gated ion channels ( the AMPA, kainite and NMDA subtypes) or G-protein coupled receptors (metabotropic, mGluR1-R8 subtypes).

I will present recent progress in the structural characterisation of ATD regions from AMPA receptors.
