Genome Analysis Platform at CIC bioGUNE: Trying to be a bit more than a plain core facility
Ana M Aransay, PhD
The main objective of the Genome Analysis Platform (GAP) is the set-up of high-throughput technologies in order to provide support for the characterization of genomes from different points of view. In particular, our laboratory handles molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics analyses applied to the investigation of DNA variants at the whole genome level, the expression of coding and non-coding RNAs, the characterization of DNA methylation profiles and cataloguing the bacterial genera that are present in particular environments. All these techniques have been, so far, applied to projects within the Biomedical field, but are appropriate for many other biological questions.
At every project, we always try to understand the variety of aims that investigation teams bring to us, in order to help on with correct experimental designs. During the presentation some examples will be mentioned.
In addition, GAP instructs Master and PhD students on the use of high-throughput technologies on Genetics, Genomics and Epigenomics, to answer particular questions within collaborative projects.
